The love for graphic design is important
Flash designer Julien Riesen has worked at Prewise around three years making graphic design and animations. Julian, who is from Switzerland, has adjusted well to the Finnish work community and speaks almost perfect Finnish already.
- A good place to work is simply a place where you are able to do interesting assignments. It’s a place where you feel good to go to when waking up in the morning. You also need to get an adequate financial compensation from your job in order to have financial protection to raise a family.
- The working time is nicely flexible when it comes to the father’s leave for example. Prewise has also taken the sports voucher in use as a new benefit, which I think is really great.
What do you expect from your employer?

- I expect my employer to understand what kind of work I do and how could I do it better. I also want to know the company’s future plans – where are we heading as a company and also on my personal level. Prewise fills my expectations well.
Your typical workday?
- I do mostly graphic design and Flash animations to different e-learning projects and product presentations. I don’t really have a typical workday since my days can be very different depending on the project. Generally my days consist of designing on my own computer and meetings with the project team and the client.
- In my work I appreciate the fact that I can always improve the results. There are no limits in visual design; the challenge is to push my own creativity even further.
- At Prewise it has been possible to influence my own job description by directing it towards my own strengths and interests, and that has of course been very motivating. I see my work at Prewise as a continuously developing process.
What have you discovered from yourself during the years at Prewise?
- I moved from Switzerland to Finland and started to work for Prewise immediately. All my colleagues here have been really nice and helpful. Especially when I only knew couple of sentences in Finnish. My colleagues have been patient in communication and with my language learning. Thank you for that! In addition to this they are real professionals and administer their jobs excellently.
- This job is my first ever. I have learned a lot in here and there is still to learn. The most important thing is that I have learned to work as a member of a team which is not always easy – especially when my mother tongue is not Finnish. I have really improved my working methods by using the Prewise’s professional tools.
What motivates you to give your best contribution to work?
- The biggest motivation might be my love for graphic design. It’s always great and rewarding to be happy for the project’s outcome, especially when the client is satisfied too! Also the thing that the world of multimedia is constantly changing and you have to come up with new ideas to make the end result visually more interesting and more user-friendly. Prewise has offered me support and encouragement to use my talent at work by offering freedom, responsibility and trust.
- I still want to develop and become better – to make rich and user-friendly projects, to which the client is even more satisfied with. I wish for diverse and interesting projects.
